GPS with Kindergartners 3/16/10

I had the pleasure of doing a GPS activity with kindergarteners last week. They were eager and had a great time. I had parent volunteer for each group of 4 kids. The parents helped the kids find two waypoints, but the kids took turns with the device. I instructed the kids to use the compass on the GPS. What surprised me about this is the number of parents who had no idea how to use a compass!
